We played a fabulous wedding up at The Hilton Milwaukee City Center in downtown Milwaukee, WI last month.
This is an old hotel. You could feel the spirit from the shows from years gone by. The room was cavernous yet the sound was excellent. You could tell there have been numerous events hosted here from corporate events to wedding receptions. Many of these events were probably planned and staged from back before the time bands used amplifiers and electricity.
As far as wedding reception venues go, this place was first rate through and through. The staff was courteous and helpful; very polite and they were good communicators between the client and the guests.
We got there early because we have a lot of gear to move in when we provide live music for your wedding reception. It was a hot AND humid Saturday afternoon. The reception hall was on the 5th floor. The loading dock was in the basement.
We were able to get everything loaded in and set up with time to spare because we showed up early as usual and we had access to all the elevators we needed. The hotel staff also was kind enough to provide flat bed trucks which made the number of loads fewer.
The wedding couple was polite and excited to have us performing. They had picked out all of their wedding songs ahead of time. So we were prepared for ‘I Saw Her First’, great as far as Father Daughter wedding songs go.
The Dance Floor Gets Packed w Dueling Pianos Wedding Music
The couple’s first dance wedding song was ‘At Last’ the timeless Etta James classic.
The Mother Son song was ‘Gloria’ (since that was Mom’s name). We had all the men from the bridal party gather around Mom, who was seated onstage, and ‘serenade’ her while we played the Van Morrison hit.
